Tips for getting over Insomnia
· Establish a set of regular sleep habits and follow them.
· Go to bed only when sleepy.
· Do not stay in bed when not sleepy. Get up and do something.
· Use the bedroom only for sleep or sex.
· Set an alarm clock and get out of bed the same time every morning, no matter what time you went to bed the night before.
· Do not nap throughout the day, if it is not the normal thing for you to do.
· Exercise regularly in the late afternoon or early evening—but not before bedtime.
· Take a hot bath {not shower} an hour or two before bedtime.
· Keep the bedroom quiet and comfortable.
· Learn to put worries out of your mind. Concentrate on pleasant things.
· Vitamins and minerals- Calcium and Magnesium, Melatonin, Vitamin B complex plus extra B5 pantothenic acid and inositol.
· Herbal remedies-Valerian root, hops, kava kava, passionflower, chamomile and catnip.
· Avoid caffeine, alcohol, tobacco, stimulating beverages, chocolate, spices, meat, dairy, proteins of any kind, sodas, nasal decongestants and other cold medicines. MSG should be avoided.
· Avoid eating a heavy meal just prior to bedtime, as this can hinder your ability to sleep well.
