We are all on a trodden path. Some take time, and map out our lives, and
determine never to detour, or make wrong turns. Others, have no true route,
simply living day to day, thus finding ways to deal with the havoc, that's
associated with never planning. The truth of the matter is, all paths leads to
eternal life, or eternal damnation. So, as we plan our lives, our day to day
activity, our future, where is God in all of it?
"Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, whatsoever you do, it should all be done to
the Glory of God." I Cor. 10:31
Last week we talked about, our lives, like Flour, must go through a refining
process on this path, if we are to be like Jesus. The Oil, represents the Holy
Spirit, given to help us understand God's word. By studying the bible, we are to
be as salt, a symbol of incorruption.
In conclusion
Water - represents
the cleansing power of the word of God. Obedience to the word of God cleanses
and refines our lives, it enables us to be true servants of God. Obeying God's
word, sanctifies the soul, and makes us partakers of the Divine Nature of God.
We can be made perfect in God's word. "Sanctify them through thy Truth: Thy word
is truth." "Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed
thereto according to God's word." Ps. 119:9. Let us search the word of God, with
patience, prayer, and humble contrition of the soul.
Frankincense - This
represents the Righteousness of Christ. A life mingled with prayer, and a
relationship with God, is promised to those who eat of this Bread of life
continually. The frankincense on the bread was a memorial, "a reminder to the
Eternal", that His righteousness is promised to all who give prayerful study to
the word.
In closing, If we neglect to eat of physical foods, we drag along in a
semi-starved condition for a time, eventually life becomes extinct. So it is
with God's word. Unless we eat, digest, and assimilate this Bread of life, we
can have no life in us. "My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge." Hosea
4:6
So we choose a path, and like the captain of a ship, we cautiously chart our
course, east, west, north, or south. The question remains: "Where is God?" No
matter how we plan, though we experience smooth sails, we somehow always
encounter rough winds, at times without warning, but it's ok, for God is there.
As the captain keeps his eyes on the compass, for fear he drifts away from the
path, and sails relentlessly on in the storm, so must we, keeping our eyes on
God, our chart and compass still. Hallelujah!
Quote; "Fools rush in where angels fear
to tread." How is it you, and me... What is the path
we have chosen?
