The Government said; it’s only a matter of time before the “National Health Insurance Scheme (NHI)” start’s doing, what it was enacted, to-do. Also on the Government’s record: “better health-care for all!” From “the cradle; to the grave!” Hence; “no-more cook-outs, and no-more sponsor-sheets,” they say!” Friends; our Government is convinced, that the NHI Scheme is the answer to a good, and healthy life! But is it? Friends; once we continue to reject GOD’S counsel; there will be ‘no-quick-fix’ to our National ‘health problems.’ How many times has it been said that; the Bahamas is a ‘Christian Nation?’ So many times we have lost count! But could it be my friends, WE stand guilty of not being what THEY-SAY WE-ARE; A ‘Christian’ Nation? For JESUS once said: “This people (or better yet, these Bahamian people) draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with [their] lips; but their heart is far from me.” MATTHEW 15:8. Come to think about, Bahamians are fast fulfilling the words spoken and penned by the Apostle Paul, when he said: (For ‘many walk,’ of whom I have told you ‘often,’ and now tell you ‘even weeping,’ [that they are] the ‘enemies of the cross of Christ:’ Whose ‘end [is] destruction,’ whose ‘God [is their] BELLY,’ and [whose] ‘glory [is] in their shame,’ who ‘mind earthly things.)’ PHILIPPIANS 3:18, 19. If the Apostle Paul were alive today, ‘weeping’ he would be WEEPING because for many Bahamians their BELLIES have indeed became their god. Hence sickness and death, from eating foods which GOD calls; an abomination! Abominable foods such as; Cracked Conch, Shrimp, Lobster, Pork Chops, Crab, crawfish, Pig Feet Souse, and a whole lot more. In fact, to have these foods listed about in ones possession is to be guilty of breaking the commandment which says: “Thou shalt not steal” EXODUS 20:13. For GOD hath never created these foods listed above to be received with thanksgiving. To better understand this; Heaven pleads with each of US, to study LEVITICUS Ch. 11 & DEUTERONOMY Ch. 14 for ourselves, so We can get the correct account of those things which are too be eaten, and those which should not be eaten! I tell the truth; many ‘…false apostles, and deceitful workers…’ are at work in our land saying; eat, drink, and be merry, and as a result, many have died an early death! By an early death; these victims fulfilled the text which says: “Be not over much wicked, neither be thou foolish: ‘why shouldest thou die before thy time?” ECCLESIASTES 7:17. Yes my friends ‘Just Look Around’ and we can indeed see that some of our family and friends have died before their time, all because of their own lifestyle choices. How sad! When the Bible gives US the assurances that GOD “…have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live…” In fact the Bible said JESUS: “…hath ‘abolished death,’ and hath ‘brought life and immortality to light through the gospel’ 2 TIMOTHY 1:10. For this cause we are told ‘to turn when GOD sends US reproof!’ By so doing; WE will not be apart of the ‘second death’ mentioned in, REV. Ch. 20 where the “…the beast and the false prophet…” will be, and all those who “…loveth and maketh a lie.” Sobering thoughts friends; for: “death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. ‘This is the second death.’ And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” REVEALTION 20:14, 15. So, “Be sober, be vigilant; (says the Apostle Peter) because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour” 1 PETER 4:7. The year 2006, came to an end four (4) days ago, and when it ended, we were left with 60 homicides, 48 traffic fatalities, and a number of rapes, arm robbers, stolen cars, and a whole lot more. Truly; WE can conclude we were not all sober, neither were we vigilant, and as a result, the devil has devoured many of US. But, I’m sure those who died because of foolish lifestyle choices, out-number those who died from other deaths. Someone once said: “The controlling power of appetite (of what; appetite?) Will prove the ruin of thousands, when, if they had conquered on this point, (on which point? Appetite,) they would have had moral power to gain the victory over every other temptation of Satan” and that’s a fact!
