We are living in a time; when “The Liquor-Sellers,” “The Law-Makers,” and those who drink liquor are fulfilling Bible prophecy! For JESUS said: “as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank… Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded…” LUKE 17:26-32. It is just amazing, that our Law-Makers think its ok, to give liquor licenses to men, so they can sell a poisonous drink, which will rob their fellowmen of their reasoning powers and their manhood, and womanhood. In other words friends, the man or woman who has formed the habit of drinking intoxicating liquor is in a desperate situation. He or she cannot be reasoned with, or persuaded to deny their indulgence. Their stomachs and brain are diseased, their will power is weakened, and their appetite uncontrolled. To back up this point, Dr. David Allen said: “the problem with alcohol consumption is that, it causes one to lose his or her inhibitions (self-conscious)” he said. Dr. Allen also said: When someone becomes angry their pulse rate increases, and blood pressure rises” and “when our pulse rises 10 percent above normal when we’re angry our IQ drops about 30 points so it really means when we’re angry we’re stupid” he said. Friends those are strong words, but true! For the Bible said: “Wine [is] a mocker, strong drink [is] raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.” PROVERBS 20:1. In other words, friends, Fermented wines [is] still a mocker! Whosoever ‘drank’ a strong drink [is] out-of-control! And whosoever is deceived thereby, is not able to make sensible decisions! This is why Dr. Allen said: “when (our) IQ drops, and (we) take a drink if there’s a knife or gun in the house, then that could lead to a whole variety of problems – including domestic abuse, child abuse.” This drinking problem is: “also one of the reasons instances why domestic violence and murders are escalating, according to psychiatrist Dr. David Allen.” But some will say; I only drink moderately! This may be true friends! But: “moderate drinking is the school in which men and women, boys and girls, are receiving an education for the drunkard's career.” Every year friends, millions upon millions of gallons of intoxicating liquors are consumed. Millions upon millions of dollars are spent in buying wretchedness, poverty, disease, degradation, lust, crime, and death. For the sake of gain, the liquor dealer deals out to his victims that which corrupts and destroys mind and body. He entails on the drunkard's family poverty and wretchedness. It is said that: “Americans spend more than 86 billion dollars each year buying alcoholic beverages!” And, as much as116 billion dollars are spent each year for the cost of damage to society from alcohol (divorce courts, health care, lost work, and premature deaths just to name a few! That’s a total of $202,000,000,000 in one year all because of alcohol. How sad! But before we say; what! The Bahamas is not too far behind! Because; according to a survey conducted by Bahamas Living Conditions, households spend an average of $103.80 on beer, wine and other alcoholic beverages! When we know that, most of us don’t make much more than that, a week! Still, today licenses are being granted by the Law-Makers, on the plea that they may bring revenue to the public treasury. But what is this revenue when compared with the enormous expense incurred for the criminals? For example, a man under the influence of liquor commits a crime; he is brought into court; and the Law-Makers who legalized the traffic are forced to deal with the result of their own work. They authorized the sale of the alcohol that would make a sane man mad; and now it is necessary for them to send the man to prison or to the gallows, while often his wife and children are left destitute, to become the charge of the community in which they live! But in the judgment, will the Law-Makers and Liquor-Sellers, be found guiltless? No friends! For the Bible says: “Woe to him that buildeth a town with blood, and stablisheth a city by iniquity! And: Woe unto him that giveth his neighbour drink, that puttest thy bottle to [him], and makest [him] drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness!” HABAKKUK 2:12-16. Truly; the time has come, for all who stand guilt, TO REPENT!!!
